Hello, Sukhraj! I’m your first peer reviewer for your site, shotbysukhraj!
shotbysukhraj is a website featuring Sukhraj’s photos of hikes and travels throughout BC, Canada. The shots are beautiful and high quality…I can’t say the same for the quality of my images…
The design, layout and format of the site are fantastic. I love how clear and “cut” the site looks with its colours and clearly labelled sections. Each section has its own content, and every post has colour-coded titles for categories. It makes the site incredibly organized! The overall design also makes the website easy to navigate, and the consistent use of colours gives the site its own identity. It feels intentional and professional, which is especially important for a photography-based website where visual presentation matters as much as the written content.
Your posts are also fantastic in quality and form. Your blogs are clear and concise; you don’t sugarcoat your words or spend twenty minutes on the introductory paragraph. This makes your posts easy to read and keeps the reader interested in what you have to say. Your writing also feels personal, which works well with the travel and hiking theme of your website.
I do wish there were more photos.
To start, I think you should include pictures in your posts. For example, you wrote a blog post about Pump Peak during golden hour, explaining how you ended up taking a picture of it, but you didn’t include the photo and instead redirected readers to your gallery. Pairing images with your post’s written pieces increases reader immersion and complements your writing. The reader shouldn’t have to switch tabs or click to go back to see the gallery on your website’s front page. Including the photo directly beside or below the section where you discuss it would make the post feel more complete and allow readers to immediately understand what you are describing. It would also give your photography more attention instead of making the reader search for it.
Additionally, you should make a separate page and category for your gallery. One of the main aspects of your blog is the pictures you took, and I think dedicating a separate page to them lets you show off your work to readers and potential clients interested in your photography.
Don’t be humble—let the photography speak for itself throughout the blog.
Having a dedicated gallery would also make it easier for visitors to browse your work without having to read through every post.
I also think you should add a menu for all your categories. Yes, you do have and show your ‘Home’ and ‘About’ pages, but I want your menu to show your ‘Posts’ and ‘Posiel’ categories. I know you can find those two unlisted categories by clicking the top coloured title of your post to find more posts in that category, but a shortcut would be nice. Adding these categories to the menu would make navigation more straightforward and help readers discover more of your content.
I think your website is strong with a clean design, excellent photography, and concise writing. With a few changes to how you present your photos and categories, I think the site could become even more engaging and professional.
